Foods That Make Your Mood Better

Mostly, people have been conditioned to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and should be avoided. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this can be true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be completely nourishing and it’s good for you to consume them. There are some foods that, when you consume them, could improve your mood. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, try a couple of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are terrific for helping you battle depression. Just see to it that you do not toss the egg yolk. Every time you would like to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most important part of the egg. Eggs, particularly the yolks, are rich in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for raising your mood. This is because these vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Eat an egg and be happy!

Make a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera are all terrific for helping to boost your mood. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise your production of serotonin. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Not only that but nuts, specifically, are a terrific protein food source.

Cold water fish are excellent if you wish to be in a better mood. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two substances that promote the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.

Grains can be good for driving away a terrible mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually wonderful for helping increase your happiness levels. These foods fill you up better and that can help improve your moods also. Feeling famished can really bring you down! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were sure it had to be mentioned in this article, right? Green tea is high in a specific amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while at the same time making the rest of your body more relaxed. You were already aware that that green tea helps you become better. Now you know that applies to your mood also!

Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Test out these suggestions instead!
