- Prepare 2 cups semovita
- Get 2 eggs
- Prepare 250 g melted butter
- Prepare 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Take 2 teaspoon vanilla flavour powder
- Take 1 cup yogurt
- Get 1 peeled grated coconut
- Make ready Peeled almonds
- Prepare Sugar syrup
- Get Powdered sugar
The original recipe called for Blanched Almonds for garnish, I have simply used the raw nuts since I like the earthy taste and texture. You may use blanched almonds:- To blanch the almonds, boil the water until it is hot and bubbly. Basbousa or Basboosa is a Middle eastern Dessert which is basically sweet semolina cake. It is also called revani or namoura in some parts.
Steps to make Basbousa, Sweet Indian desert:
- In a bowl add two eggs
- Whisk the egg
- Add sugar and whisk again
- Add melted
- Add yogurt
- Mix well
- Add baking powder and vanilla flavour
- Add the semovita and mix
- Add the grated coconut
- Transfer the batter into a grease tray,and spread evenly,live it for about 30minute to set properly, cut as per the design required,add the peeled almonds
- Bake for 45mins
- Pour sugar syrup on top
- Re cut the shapes
- Ready to serve
